This is a message I spoke at our kids club today. Thought I'd share it!
Put your hand up if you’ve heard of minions
before? They look a little something like this (show picture of minion)
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but
there are a lot of minions. And Gru uses them as kind of testers for a lot of
his experiments in Despicable Me 1, doesn’t he.
Here’s an example:

(Despicable Me: Dr Nefario’s New Inventions
The first minion floats out to space
doesn’t he, and Dr Nefario and Gru don’t really care much. They’re like ‘eh’
he’ll be ok.
Minions all kind of look alike, and there’s
so many of them, that when one goes missing, no one really notices.
I started thinking about this and thought, “I
wonder if God thinks that we are his minions, if one of us goes missing, does
he care?”
And when I have a question like that, I go
to the Bible, because the Bible is where we read about God and Jesus.
In Psalm 139 this is what it says:
‘you know everything about me’
‘you know when I sit down or stand up’
‘you know my thoughts when I’m far away’
You see me when I travel and when I rest at
home’
‘You know everything I do’
God knows everything about us, and
everything that we do. He knows when we’re sitting down, or standing up. He
even knows our thoughts when we’re far away.
Gru didn’t always know where his minions
were, he just got them to do his stuff for him, and didn’t really care. One of
them floated into space, and they were like ‘eh’ about him.
God’s not like Gru.
He knows everything about us.
When we’re alone, God knows about us.
When we’re scared, God knows
When we’re happy, God knows
He cares about us lots and lots and lots
and lots.
Remember our memory verse?
‘and I am convinced that nothing can ever
separate us from God’s love’ Romans 8:38
Nothing can ever separate us from God. He’s
always there, and he always knows where we are, because he cares about us
greatly.
If you only remember one thing about God,
it should be this.
~Pray~
(we then split up into prayer groups and discuss the message further, then pray over specific prayer/praise points the kids have that week)
